Scarf dance
Scarf dance
Inspired by a women’s dance from Togo, West Africa, this is a simple and fun dance activity for any age. Gather enough unique scarves so that each student will have one. The scarves must be long enough for students to loop around their waist.
1. Standing in a circle, loop scarf loosely around hips and hold it (don’t tie!) together in front with the left hand.
2. Turn to the right and use the right hand to loosely hold the scarf of the person in front of you.
3. Step forward with the right foot, leaning slightly forward with the upper body.
4. Bring the left foot to the right, and stand up straight again.
5. Repeat 6 to 8 times.
6. Stop. Remove and pass scarf to the person behind.
Repeat steps 1 through 6 until scarves are back where they started.
New Song: Rain on the Green Grass

Here is a new song -
Rain on the Green Grass Listen to me sing it.
I will then sing it line by line to help you learn it.
Once you have learnt the song record yourself singing it back to me.
lyrics: Rain on the green grass
rain on the trees
rain on the rooftop
but not on me
Rain on the Green Grass Continued:
Create actions for each line of the song
Take four photos of your self doing the actions and put them in order.
You can use the assignment sheet or just send in the four photos.
Make them mimic the words somehow.
For example if the sentence was rain on the flowers maybe I would send in a picture of myself making a flower around my face

Rhythm Chain:

Take a look at the rhythms words. The words are either ta, titi, or ta-ah redraw the rhythms on the right to above the proper words. Try and clap out the words if you are not sure! (remember that ta-ah needs to be held over two hearts)
Create your own Rain Rhythm Chain:
Using the words and attached rhythms create your own chain. draw the rhythms with the words to any heart you want! Mix them up do not just copy the original lines (example: pitter drip patter drip) Remember that ta-ah needs to be held over two hearts

Color by note - Summer Themed -
Enjoy this summer themed color by note! Look at the key find which color each rhythm is and then color in the picture (using ta, titi, ta-ah, and rest)
