Sing along song - Rockstar - a Great Big World

treble clef .jpg
Treble Clef egg matching 2.jpg

Happy Easter!

Let's do some egg matching through note naming

The following pictures have notes put on a staff which will create a word. Using the note name key or the strategies talked about in class (Lines spell- Ernie Gave Bert Dead Flowers, Spaces spell FACE, remember just like reading, music reads Left to Right) try and figure out the 5 words and match them to the eggs. Email me the answers at mporco@wsd1.org once you have figured out which eggs matches which

Spring Rhythms

Easter rhythm picture .jpg

Let's make some Spring rhythms:

Each line should be 4 heart beats

(use ta, titi, ta-ah, rest, tika tika)

use spring words, some spring words provided, feel free to come up with your own

printable worksheet available

or simply draw 12 eggs on a piece of paper

See Ms Porco's two example below:

Spring Rhythms continued

Once you have your Spring rhythms, You will now create body percussion for your rhythm chains

Body Percussion Ideas:

Stomp -----------------------          snap              clap                                                      jump                                                      tap shoulders

Spring Rhythms with at home instruments

This is the third step in the spring rhythms assignment, you have your word rhythms and body percussion, now I want you to add your instruments. Even though some students do not have real instruments at home, there is lots of things that make noise.

Some example of at home instruments who be: Spoons, pots, pans, pencils, pens, elastic bands, etc. (try to come up with your own)

You will take your three lines of rhythm and add your new instruments. I would suggest not having more than 4-5 "at home instruments" in your song. To many instruments to switch in between may be confusing. Feel free to video your final spring song and send to me, in your video show and tell the instruments you are going to use.

See Ms Porco's example below (I only did two lines please do all three of yours):

Once you have learnt the song try this skipping activity with your family. If you have a large skipping rope you jump in at the Now jump in my (name) and add you name.

Song lyrics and sound melody are below.

Send me a video if you would like :)

Lyrics:

On a mountain stands a lady, who she is I do not know.

All she wants is gold and silver, gold and silver for her beau.

Now jump in my (name), jump in my (name)

Continuing Carnival of the Animals

Lion

1. Take a listen and look at the map.

You will hear parts of the song that sound like the lion is walking, but some parts sound like the lion is roaring! When the lion is roaring, what direction do you think the notes are going? Does the music get louder in parts? Listen again!

2.Draw your own listening map! Get a piece of paper, then fold the paper in half like a hamburger bun. One one side of the paper, make a row of 8 pawprints. To make a pawprint, draw one circle about the size of your thumb, then draw four smaller circles above the first one. On the other side of your paper, draw a shape that looks like a hill. This will be the line to trace when the lion roars! When you have finished your listening map, play the video again, and tap the beat when the music sounds like walking on the pawprints, and then trace the hill shape when the lion roars!

Stella Ella Olla with your family

00:00 / 00:52
Lyrics:
Stella Ella Ola
clap clap clap
singing ess chiko chik-o
chiko chiko cracker jacker
ess chiko chik-o
baloney, baloney
with cheese and macaroni!
so 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!

"Stella Ella Ola" is a clapping game where players stand or sit in a circle placing one hand over her or his neighbour's closer hand and sing the song.

On every beat, a person claps their higher hand onto the touching person's palm. The cycle continues until the song ends at which point if the person's hand is slapped, they are considered "out" and must stand or sit in the center of the circle, or leave the circle and watch from the edges.

If the player to be slapped pulls her or his hand away fast enough, the person who attempted to slap the hand is out.

(song above if you do not know it)
